Sea Street Streetscape
GalleryThe new streetscape for Sea Street in Hyannis, MA improves pedestrian and bike connection from downtown Hyannis to Sea Street Beach, while improving flood susceptibility through stormwater management. The project utilizes new street tree plantings and lighting to improve pedestrian safety and comfort, lower vehicular speeds, while creating a new multi-use path with bike connections to Main Street Hyannis.
All of these changes help to create a visual appearance that ties into the improvements on Main Street and Bearsas Way in Hyannis. The project extends from the Intersection of Sea Street and Main Street south to Sea Street beach. Multiple public meetings led to community consensus to expand sidewalks, and add a separated multi-use path while replacing standard lighting fixtures with decorative fixtures, planting new street trees and using public lands to address flooding concerns through the implementation of stormwater management.
