Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts

As part of a 5-year long range property planning initiative, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts project included the development of a master plan document for five approximately 60 acre camp sites each with their own distinct program requirements and associated site improvements as well as the following unique ecosystems:

Camp Runels in Pelham, NH: Wetland corridor
Camp Wind in the Pines in Plymouth, MA: Pine barrens interior forest
Camp Favorite in Brewster, MA: Edge of coastal kettle pond
Camp Cedar Hill in Waltham, MA: River
Camp Maude Eaton in Andover, MA: White pine woodland

Offshoots worked with Silverman Troykowski, Girl Scouts staff, leadership and scouts during 8 planned meetings and site walks to gather user input.   Master plans with detailed site analysis drawings were produced for each camp.  One year after producing master plans for the five camps, Offshoots created a comprehensive signage and wayfinding system to be used on trail maps and brochures. The scope included the design and construction of entry and welcome signs for camp properties in Plymouth, Brewster, Waltham, Andover, and Pelham as well as creating a complete wayfinding system in Waltham. Iconography Offshoots developed from the master plan exercise was incorporated into the signage system, comprising a complete graphics package for site users to identify important locations throughout the camps.  The signage system was designed to look like rustic wood, but was actually detailed out of carved high density foam to provide long term durability.
